Christmas Service message (2013) at Riga 1
Ziemassvētku dievkalpojuma vēsts Rīgas 1. korpusā

Svētruna

Šis tika rādīts dievkalpojuma beigās, ļaudīm vēl rokās turot aizdegtas svecītes /

This was shown at the end of the service as people still were keeping candles in their hands.
Text is from John 1: 4-9 various (English) Bible translations put together in understandable Latvian (as i used to call my tryings to translate Bible in more understandable language).
This song was in my head for several weeks before Christmas, - that's how this slideshow came into existance.
Words of the song talks about wise man seeing the Star and following it - to find the Truth - Jesus.

"Māla Trauki"

Vēl viens gads pagājis un atkal tiekamies ierastajā vietā un laikā ģimenes nometnē "Ģirtos", Bernātos
Šī gada tēma "Māla trauki" ar ko Bībelē tiekam salīdzināti mēs. Kādi esam? - cik skaisti jeb derīgi Dievam? Cik pakļāvīgi esam Veidotāja Rokās, kas zina vislabāk kā un ko no mums izveidot.
Jeremija 18. 2. Korintiešiem 4:7

Another year has gone and we all meet in Family camp again, - usual place (near Liepaja) and usual days - first weekend of August.
Topic of this year's camp is "Jars of Clay". How do we look? - are we beautiful or cracked? Do we allow God to mould us? are we soft enough to be formed by Him who knows the Best for us, - how and in what to shape us.
Jeremiah 18; 2 Corinthians 4:7

Jesus was born where we live, not in a guest room

This year's Christmas sermon of Sarah probably would bring true picture of the birth of Jesus compared to how you heard and believed it before concerning the rush and not finding the place for Jesus in a home.
Sarah's sermon unfolds the true place where Jesus was born and it speaks about the place were we live, symbolizing also God's willingness to come to you in the same way - to your everyday life.
______________

Šī gada Ziemsvētku svētruna, kuru teica Sāra iespējams atklāj patieso Jēzus piedzimšanas ainu, pretstatā tai, kuru Tu esi pieradis dzirdēt, runājot par steigu un to, kā Jāzeps ar Mariju nespēja atrast namu, kur Jēzum piedzimt.
Sāras svētruna atklāj Jēzus piedzimšanas patieso vietu un runā par vietu, kur mēs dzīvojam, jeb kur mēs vadam savas ikdienas dzīvi. Tādējādi vieta, kur dzimst Jēzus simbolizē Dieva vēlmi tādā pat veidā nākt Tavā dzīvē - vietā, kur Tu vadi savu ikdienas dzīvi.

Klusa pielūgsme

Klusa pielūgsme PA Rīgas 1. korpusa kafejnīcas telpā pirms Cerības Festivāla.
Tas bija jauks laiks, kurā ļāvāmies Dieva garam spēlēt ar mūsu rokām un balsīm, liekot dziedāt mūsu sirdīm.
Man nebija īsti doma, ka varētu dalīties ar šīm dziesmām, bet tās klausoties biju pārsteigts, ka ieraksta kvalitāte ir diezgan pieņemama, kaut arī brīžiem ieskanas arī pa kādam būvstrādnieku urbim, kas dokumentē būvdarbu misiju "Izlaušanās" (veidojot iebrauktuvi PA pagalmā no Bruņinieku ielas) pirms lielajām svinībām par godu Pestīšanas Armijas 20 gadiem kopš darba atsākšanas Latvijā.

5. Māceklība/ Discipleship

4. Oktobra svētdienā Peter Baronowsky (PA Latvijā vadītājs) sekojot mūsu draudzes vadlīnijai par 10 mūsu draudzes vērtībām (mūsu draudzes vīziju), runāja par māceklību.
Ko nozīmē būt Jēzus māceklim. Kas ir un kas nav Jēzus māceklis.

4th of October SA in Latvia leader Peter Baronowsky talked about Discipleship, following our Church values (vision of what kind of Church we want to be).
What does it mean to be disciple of Jesus? What is and what is not disciple of His.

PS. :)

About Peter's intro words: the root of them was from one of our ladies (Aldona) testimony. Aldona in testimony time told her experience with thieves who tried to steal purse out of her bag. God's Spirit made Aldona to turn very sharply in that particular moment when girls (thieve's) hand was sliding in her bag. As Aldona told it and tried to visually show it, by her turning she hit Dace (our interpretor) with her microphone.. :)

Birth Day

It has been awhile since last blog entry, an update of our Church's blog. I want to apologize to those who has time and desire to read and listen to the entries "wishing you were there" with us.
There has been dozens of great stories, - testimonies, sermons to share with you to grow your faith and love for God, our Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lots of those audio files are still in my computer 'waiting' to be sorted. But of course "fresh bread" is the best to receive.
And this is Happy Birthday! greetings to all of us, as we celebrating Birth of the Church of Christ with the coming of Holy Spirit on Earth, on all who believe in Jesus.

In the Testimonies you will hear about some old lady which was Saved on a day of her death and you will hear the voice of a man who would not be alive and talking if not the miracle of God and power of prayer.
And sermon is about work of the Holy Spirit whom God sent for His Church.

Tie, kas no jums laiku pa laikam ieskatās šajā Rīgas 1. korpusa blogā, būs ievērojuši, ka labu laiku atkal te ir bijis klusums.
To starp ir bijis daudz labu un iedvesmojošu apliecinājumu Dieva darbiem kādu cilvēku dzīvēs un ikdienās, bet es jums dodu iespēju dzirdēt vissvaigākās atskaņas, - no Dzimšanas Dienas dievkalpojuma - Kristus Draudzes Dzimšanas dienas Svētdienas, ko svinam Vasarsvētkos ar Svētā Gara nākšanu, ko Tēvs sūtīja saviem bērniem.

Aldona.

Spring outing in Sigulda

May 16th, 2009

This was our Church's outing in Sigulda.
As i was walking and enjoying beautifully blooming trees and flowers i realized that i've never been in Sigulda in Spring.
Almost every Latvian considers his duty to go to Sigulda in Fall (Autumn), but, like me, misses the beauty of Spring there. It was beautiful and joyful day - great fun!

"God of the Living"

"God of the Living"
Mark 12:26, 27

Franciska Simpson - Sarah's grandmother

"It was in the spring of 1923 when I first came into personal contact with this organization. I found God as a result of this.

For a long time I had lived without any faith, I had not even thought about God and religion. All spirituality was like a fog to me and I didn’t think of finding solutions to spiritual seeking and longings in religion. I lived in the world, among unbelievers, I had the view, like those around me that spiritual things did not have anything to do with me and I didn’t have the desire to go into detail about the basics.

I lived in Jelgava with my parents and elder sister. Around that time my sister – with whom I was very close and who was more denying of God than I was, started to be interested in religion. She didn’t speak to me about it much, but I observed her and I also started to have a desire to go to some spiritual meeting some time. I had been a couple of times to a German youth group at the Blue Cross and everything that I had heard and seen had left a strange impression on me. I started to realize that there is another world from which comes a deep, silent peace and joy. This started to draw me, even though God and the Bible was still quite dark and difficult to understand.

About this time the Salvation Army started to have meetings in Jelgava. Whereas before I was indifferent, I was now thirsty for and indeed looking for every opportunity to hear God’s word. One evening in a big meeting when I heard again from the platform an invitation to give yourself to God, I couldn’t resist any longer – I let everything go – thoughts, doubts, fears and went forward – revealing openly my deep longings after God and his peace. It is impossible to express everything that I felt that evening, but from that time my soul started to have a different light. Everything changed and had a different appearance, like the curtain of eternity had opened in front of me and showed me everything in the light of eternity. I started to understand God’s word and it became alive to me.

I no longer “asked advice from flesh and blood” but went forward on a new way, that opened up before me, not knowing where it would end. A wonderful strength carried me as if on wings. After a few days I was already a recruit in the Salvation Army because I felt that I could not be quite about my amazing experience of God that was opening up before me. I also saw that everyone around me was also longing after it but didn’t know where to look or what it was. Then, after a while I heard an invitation to become a Candidate, to become an officer in The Salvation Army, without any thought or doubt I signed up and I am now a Lieutenant in The Salvation Army. I have one wish and that is to give everything to God and his work – all of myself, all time, all strength and all my life. I am happy, eternally happy and eternally grateful to God for this great happiness he has given me – to belong to Him, work for Him and help others. There is no greater joy and it is available to all.

Praise God!"

Remembered forever

23. Novembris, 2008. mūsu Kunga gads.

* * *

Psalm 112 is the song of praise - song about life and destiny of a righteous, God fearing man. Such person in his life will have joy, peace, security and will be remembered forever.
And this Sunday was fulfillment of Psalm 112:6.
You might think that it is Joshua as Sarah is preaching about him for few weeks already. Him as well of course, but this time it is remembered whole city and its inhabitants.
And the story is about Gibeon, about Gibeonites whose life could be erased from history and memory of people forever during the time of Joshua, but instead God blessed them and made their name to be remembered FOREVER.

16. Novembris.

Svētdiena, 16. Novembris.

Šī Svētā diena bija zīmīga ar to, ka tā vien šķita, ka no malu malām kopā nāk ļaudis, it kā būtu kādi svētki.

* * *

This was third Sunday when Sarah preached from book of Joshua. This time it was well known story of Israelites conquering Jericho. She also touched a difficult subject many times asked by people 'why God in Old Testament is such a violent?'
